My favorite word

I personally like the word carefree. It isn’t a word I use often, but it conveys a powerful meaning to me. It means being happily free of all responsibility. I have been saddled with responsibilities since young adulthood, and I have hated it honestly. I think people should be able to live a relatively carefree and spontaneous life, but that is not the case with our world. It is burdensome and requires tons of maintenance just to keep the gears spinning in the right direction.

I’m not a huge spender, nor do I crave lots of money, but I would love to win the lottery, simply because I could then live a very carefree lifestyle. I wouldn’t have to set the alarm every day. I wouldn’t have to deal with difficult people. I wouldn’t have to show up somewhere. I could do the things I wanted to do every day. I wouldn’t have any anxiety about making ends meet. I could finally just live. I think that’s why money is really important, not to buy junk, but to finally emancipate yourself.

There’s another word I do use pretty often. It’s the word fabulous. A lot of times, people will ask me how I’m doing, and I will respond with the word fabulous. I say it in a very positive way most of the time, and I think it has a good effect on people generally. If you say it right, the word conveys a meaning that things are not just good, but a little better than good. I think it’s a word people would associate with me if they had to greet me every day. I guess that’s better than other F words.

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a fabulous and carefree day!

A random act of kindness.

I’m not exactly clear on what a random act would be. I mean, if I tossed a $100 bill up in the air and it landed on someone’s head, that might be random. If I created a lottery and gave away a new car to the winning draw, that might be random.

I feel like practically everything I do is not random. If I gave you a present, it might be kind and unexpected, but it would not be random. I selected you specifically. Even if I paid for a person’s drink behind me in the Starbucks line, which I have done before, it wouldn’t be random, even if I didn’t know who they were, because I deliberately selected them for a gift. I would also get a payback in the form of satisfaction for doing something kind.

The best I can do is give you a deliberate act of kindness towards someone. Last weekend, I dropped a fairly large tip at one of the bars I frequent and walked out. Tipping is probably one of the biggest ways I show kindness. A server would have to be absolutely hateful to get less than 20% from me. It’s kind of my weak spot. I’ve tipped as large as 300%. I only know this because my card sends me an email when I leave an excessive tip, and shows the percentage, but I think I still get 4% back in cashback. It sort of pays to give I guess, exactly 4%.

I love the service industry! I believe customer service can be a hard job and I appreciate when someone does it well. I actually have a lot of friends in the service industry also, mostly servers and bartenders. They often make me happy when I’m depressed, and sometimes put a smile on my face. I really appreciate them being there. Not just for what they do, but for the positivity they exude while doing it. They make the world a better place.
