The new buffet

I bought a little buffet cabinet for the apartment. It was delivered in two boxes, and I spent half of Saturday putting it together. It wasn’t too difficult to assemble, just time consuming. The only tool it required was a screwdriver. It did have a lot of screws though, about a million. My wrist was very tired by the time I was finished, and I actually wore a blister on my palm and one of my fingers, but I did it!

In the end, it actually turned out to be a very nice cabinet for the price. It’s cheaper than most of the other furniture I have, but kind of stands out more. I think I like it better, but maybe it’s just because I put this one together myself, rather than it being delivered fully assembled by the furniture store.

I bought some wine glasses for it. You can see them in one of the pictures. Supposedly, these are harder to break because they are made from tempered glass. I hope so! One thing I hate more than anything is getting cut on broken glass. So painful and bloody! I tend to be a little clumsy when I drink. Who knew?

I also bought a bottle of wine to test out the glasses. It’s my favorite type of wine, pinot noir. I once read that pinot noir wine is high in resveratrol, which has health benefits, but I mainly like it for the taste. It’s not an expensive bottle or anything. The brand name is Meiomi. I’ve had it before and I think it has a good flavor. Unfortunately, the bottle is too large at the bottom and won’t fit in the wine rack.

You’ve seen the teapot before. It’s a little dirty, because I just used it to make tea!

When was the last time you assembled a piece of furniture? Do you think you value something more when you have invested time on it? What’s your favorite type of wine and brand? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe!

The skill I would like to learn.

I think I’ve spent quite a bit of my life learning new skills. For some reason, I was always trying to absorb one more thing. Even now, I find focusing on learning as a way of coping with life. The problem is, I’ve tried quite a lot of things already, and I’m just not as motivated as I used to be. It might also be that I found some things to be more interesting than skill acquisition, and it’s easy to become distracted.

One of the skills I’m working on right now is writing. I think writing well would be a great skill to have, but it is very challenging. I’m currently reading a few books on the subject actually, trying to develop more skills in that area. I’m also getting lots of writing practice with this blog, which is great! Ultimately, I would like to complete a novella or novelette. I feel like that’s a doable goal, because they don’t have a huge wordcount. The wordcount of a novella is somewhere between 17,500 and 40,000 words, and a novelette is even smaller with around 7,700 to 17,500 words. Maybe if I’m successful, I will move on to a larger writing project, like a full novel or something. Hopefully, I will get better and better, and eventually get there someday.

I’m reading this series of books over writing a novel. I started with the first one and kind of liked it, so I just kept going. It’s really cool when someone creates a series like this. Listing the first couple of books in the series below. I’ve already finished reading them both. I’m pretty happy with the content, very informative.
